Staff: 5 VMO Physicians
Units: 3 Medical Teams (2 Basic Trainees and 1 Advancded Trainee)
IM Demographics
I.M. Beds: 35
I.M. Inpatient Activity: Usually runs between 40 and 50 patients
I.M. Outpatient Clinics: Nil
I.M. Specialty Interests / Special Units: Cardiology, Renal, Respiratory, ICU and Gastroenterology

Formal Training

Lectures: Nil
Journal Club: Weekly combined with Radiology meeting
Grand Rounds: Weekly
Consult Rounds: 3 per week
Specialty Rotations: Negotiable depending on individual's interest
Research: Clinical Research opportunities depending on individual interest
Quality Improvement: Participation in Monthly Morbidity and Mortality meeting

Trainee Responsibilities in I.M.

Coverage Roster: 1 in 5 overtime shirfts until 10pm weekdays and 8am to 8pm weekends
Workload in Medicine Units: Average 10-15 inpatients
Teaching Responsibilities Expected to participate in both JMO lecture series and intermittently undergraduate teaching depending on attachments
Research/presentations: Expected to do 1 substantial body of work every 6 months - most often a Case report and review of the literature
