International Women’s Day 2017
8th Mar 17
International Women’s Day (8 March) is dedicated to promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality to accelerate awareness for girls and women across the world.
We'd like to share the RACP’s Pomegranate Podcast Episode 16: Mind the (Gender) Gap to acknowledge women, families and marriage. Oftentimes, during medical training there can be complexities for women desiring to marry, take time off to have children and to start a family.
In this episode, RACP President Dr Catherine Yelland FRACP is joined by Dr Stefanie Schurer, Senior Lecturer in applied health economics at the University of Sydney, consultant surgeon Dr Elizabeth Sigston FRACS and Professor Helena Teede FRACP, Executive Director, Monash Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre and Director, Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation.
The guest speakers discuss gender equity in the profession, and how role-modelling and leadership training may offer strategies to support the next generation of women doctors.
You can download Pomegranate from the RACP website, or subscribe to the series via iTunes or Android. New episodes are published at the end of every month.
